Abstract

Decolorization of risky organic pollutants in industrial wastewater through AOPs (advanced oxidation processes) has received a wide deal of research attention. Biosilica nanomaterials modified with In2O3 featuring varying indium oxide contents were produced through an effective sonochemical method. Biosilica is a mineral of biological origin made up of the skeletal remains of aquatic life known as diatoms. The synthesized compound was examined using energy dispersive X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (EDX), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) methods. XRD results revealed peaks for the biosilica phase and indium oxide. The surface structure and significant porosity of diatom can serve as a model to enhance the capabilities of functional materials. The as-prepared compounds' photocatalytic activities were evaluated for the decolorization of methyl Orange (MO). The influence of several factors, such as various scavengers, initial dye concentration, and catalyst quantity, was examined. The findings showed that diatomite treated with indium oxide is applicable in various experimental trials without a significant decrease in photocatalytic activity.
